SOLOIST ENSEMBLE URANIA
Founded in 2006, Soloist Ensemble Urania is an all female group of five singers and two pianists. Soloist and faculty members by days, the Soloist Ensemble Urania have combined their resources, talent and energy to soothe our high-tech anxieties. Classically and professionally trained, they borrowed their name from Greek mythology, Urania, meaning heavenly, the muse of astronomy and astrology. And it is there that even a lukewarm fan of classical music will be when hearing the angelic murmurs of the Soloist Ensemble Urania: in the heavens, amongst the milky stars, near the gods. In these technological times, we find pushing a button as natural as breathing. Convenience is at our fingertips. We conjure up a desire and push a button; a machine grants our wishes. A neat deal: push and receive. But our machines are demanding masters with grey, robotic, sterile personalities. The Soloist Ensemble Urania charmingly replenishes the light, warmth and music that our handy machines drain from us.
